In collaboration with York-based housebuilder Persimmon, we’ve announced a joint initiative aimed at helping first-time buyers get on the property ladder.
Under our partnership, 38 brand new apartments at Persimmon’s Germany Beck development in Fulford will be transferred to us. We’ll make these apartments available through a shared ownership and rent-to-buy scheme, offering newcomers to the open market an opportunity to own their own home.
Persimmon’s Germany Beck development is made up of more than 650 homes, including apartments and houses with 2, 3, 4, and 5 bedrooms. The current price range for available plots is between £265,000 to £320,000. People living there will be able to enjoy numerous facilities such as a retail area, children's play areas, a nature park, extensive public open spaces, improved access to public transportation, and outdoor sports facilities.
Kathryn Gare, head of acquisitions at Yorkshire Housing, said:
“We’re really pleased to be working with Persimmon to deliver these homes in Fulford which will help meet the demand for quality homes in the area. The development gives more people the chance to have a place they’re proud to call home.
“There’s a need for more affordable homes across Yorkshire, and this scheme takes us a step closer to reaching our target of building 8,000 new homes across the county.”
Joel Frank, land director at Persimmon Yorkshire, said:
“We’re delighted to have worked with Yorkshire Housing to support first-time buyers to get onto the property ladder here in York.
“Shared ownership provides another helpful way for young and first-time buyers to buy their first home.
“With its excellent transport links and access to local amenities, we’re sure that these properties at Germany Beck will prove extremely popular with homebuyers.”
