Leon, our Environmental Services Trainee, received the award from Craven College for his work ethic, passion for learning, making a difference and becoming an instrumental member of the team delivering the day to day.
Leon completed his Level 2 apprenticeship with us earlier this year and has now gone on to become a trainee. So, if you’re a Yorkshire Housing customer, you may see him out and about hedge and grass cutting in the summer and working with the tree surgeons in the winter!
Commenting on his award, Leon said:
“I’m really pleased to have been named as Craven College’s Rising Star. It’s a great feeling being recognised for the work I do, and I enjoyed celebrating the surprise win with the rest of my team.
“I love my role as I like working outside, and a lot of the time it doesn’t feel like work! I’m a hands-on learner rather than being in a classroom, so an apprenticeship was the right route for me. I’d recommend an apprenticeship to anyone.”
Kiran Olak leads the apprenticeship programme at Yorkshire Housing and said:
“We’re proud of Leon for this achievement and the team and I were really pleased to be the ones to break the news to him, and of course we had cake to celebrate!
“Our apprentices make such a big impact to our organisation and customers, so to see them being recognised in ways like this one, means a lot to us all.”
