Our year-long fundraising efforts for ANDYSMANCLUB are coming to a close with over £12,500 raised for the men's suicide prevention charity.
But there’s still more cash to come as our teams gear up to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for the second time in support of our Charity of the Year. Plus, we’ll match fund the money raised by our charitable colleagues up to £15,000 – with a final figure to be announced in May.
By this time, we’ll have also announced our new Charity of the Year for 2024/25, so keep your eyes peeled for an announcement coming soon.
ANDYSMANCLUB aims to end stigmas around men’s mental health by holding judgment-free, confidential talking groups where men can open up about the storms in their lives.
And as Jay Jepson, chair of our Charity of the Year Committee, explains, the conversations our colleagues have had since we first linked up with the charity have been, and will continue to be, priceless.
“It’s been our absolute pleasure to champion ANDYSMANCLUB as our Charity of the Year,” she said.
“Not only have we been able to raise thousands of pounds for an extremely worthy cause, but our support has also opened up crucial conversations amongst colleagues to break down barriers around mental health.
“We want to thank our colleagues for their fantastic fundraising efforts, and also the ANDYSMANCLUB team for their support. We know the money raised will make a big difference and we look forward to sharing our final fundraising amount after the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in May.”
From dragon boat racing to fantasy football and much more, we’ve held a whole host of fundraising events for ANDYSMANCLUB over the last year. Here are just some of our highlights:
Skydive
After a 15-min flight into the clouds, our multi-skilled operative Luis took part in a skydive to help raise money for the charity which is close to his heart. He told us his favourite part of the experience was having his kids there to watch him – they were super proud of their dad, and Luis always tells them to “reach for the stars and moon; anything is possible”.
Quiz night
In February, we hosted a good ol’ quiz night in aid of ANDYSMANCLUB, with family, friends and some of our closest suppliers – including Hays Recruitment, Travis Perkins, Lindum Group, Leeds City Council and Ward Hadaway – all in attendance. A total of 85 people got involved on the night which raised £1,500.
In a message of thanks to our daring and caring colleagues, Tanya French, head of events at ANDYSMANCLUB, said they’ve been “delighted” to receive our support over the last 12 months.
She said: “The Yorkshire Housing team have been incredible at arranging events in aid of ANDYSMANCLUB, as well as supporting the charity with their amazing fundraising efforts which helps support over 180 clubs nationwide and helping to raise much needed awareness of men’s mental health.
“We wish the team all the best with their final event, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, and thank you again for all your support.”
