A problem property linked to anti-social behaviour and crime on a Bradford Street has been shut down following joint work by Yorkshire Housing, West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Council.
Our tenancy enforcement team worked closely with Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing Team and the council to collect evidence highlighting issues around Flat 7, 12 Parkfield Road, Manningham.
A premises Closure Order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing act 2014 was granted at Bradford Magistrates Count on 24 November following a joint application between us and the police.
The court was satisfied there had been disorderly, offensive or criminal behaviour on the premises.
Evidence showed that the address had been linked to drug use, drug paraphernalia and detritus items being left in communal areas. Also the continual disturbances day and night with visitors ringing buzzers housing and throwing stones at the window to gain entry. Residents have also been subject to verbal abuse and racist graffiti when challenging behaviour.
The closure order lasts for three months and the property has been sealed up. Anyone who breaches the order by entering the premises commits and offence and can be arrested.
Emma Standing, tenancy enforcement officer at Yorkshire Housing, said:
“We take all complaints of antisocial behaviour extremely seriously. Everyone should have the right to feel safe and comfortable in their own home, and we are committed to working with our partners to take action whenever problems occur.”
Inspector Andy Milner who heads the Bradford West NPT said:
“The criminal and anti-social behaviour linked to this property has been seriously affecting the lives of nearby residents.
‘We have worked hard with our partners to secure this closure order and by shutting down the address will stop the problem.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and encourage residents to report any further incidents to us so we can take appropriate action.”
