We’re proud to share an exciting new project to improve energy efficiency across our social rented homes.
We’ve secured ECO funding aimed at properties with an energy performance rating of D or lower. This opportunity will fully fund the installation of solar panels, with the project running until the end of March.
Working in partnership with GEC Power, we’ve identified 300 homes that qualify for the scheme.
In addition to installing solar panels, we’ve redirected extra funding to provide battery storage for each home. This has the potential to further improve energy performance and support our customers in reducing the risk of fuel poverty.
All the energy generated by the solar panels and stored in the batteries will directly benefit our customers, helping to significantly reduce their energy use.
To date, we’ve successfully completed 17 Solar + Battery installations, with another 9 scheduled for this week. Additionally, we’re in the process of installing Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV, and Batteries at 3 properties. We expect to significantly ramp up delivery in January 2025.
Bob Spedding, our Head of Asset Strategy, said:
“Finding out about the funding opportunity just two weeks before the deadline, the team knew it was a rare chance that couldn’t be missed.
“We acted quickly to put a plan in place, securing the necessary resources and partnerships to make the project a reality.
“This teamwork shows our dedication to reducing energy costs for our customers and to reaching our sustainability goals.”
