Funding pledged for safeguarding Yorkshire Housing residents

A contract has been signed between Yorkshire Housing and Churchill who will be providing cleaning services for communal spaces across 250 locations.

Alongside this, Churchill has pledged £20,000 to Yorkshire Housing’s Target Hardening funding pot.

This funding will provide safeguarding to our customers who have experienced any form of domestic abuse. Safety Planning is carried out in any affected homes to keep residents and children safe, such as changing existing locks or fitting door chains and window locks.

Safeguarding and Outreach Officer Elise Richardson, from Yorkshire Housing, said: “Churchill’s pledge, as part of the Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant, means they’ll be assisting us with a social aim of helping more people to receive help and advice.

“At Yorkshire Housing, we’re very committed to safeguarding and helping our customers to feel free from harm, abuse and neglect.”

Yorkshire Housing aims to support people where possible. This includes working with local councils, charities and voluntary organisations to bring in extra help and advice, as well as putting together safety plans and providing specialist support.

Phil Matis, Director – North for Churchill Group, said: “Yorkshire Housing is setting the bar in its local area to achieve great things and support the communities in which it operates. This is one of the reasons why our overarching values align, and our partnership has gone from strength to strength since 2022.

“By committing to support Yorkshire Housing’s quest, through setting up a specific fund, we have, and will continue to support our client in a variety of ways from fundraising and donations, to social value and environmental commitments.”
