Yorkshire Housing helps Sheffield foundation hold event to support local Somali community

One Somali Foundation received £500 through our community grant scheme to deliver a free cycling event.

The funding from Yorkshire Housing allowed the organisation to run the event in the Darnall area of Sheffield. It was organised to bring people from the local Somali community together to support their mental health.

One Somali Foundation was set up by one of our customers who has been with us for over 30 years. They’re all about making a positive impact and bringing positive change to Somali communities worldwide.

Commenting on their fundraising day, founder Taha said:

“This event gave people a reason to head outside into the fresh air and to be active through cycling – all while having a good natter with others! We all had a great day.

“Thank you to everyone who joined and a special thank you to Yorkshire Housing for providing us a grant to enable us to run the event.”

Our Community Independence Manager, Charlotte Woollard said:

“This is exactly what our community grants are for. We love to see the money being used to make an impact in the community, like this.

“We’re dedicated to helping community groups being their ideas to life which make a positive impact on others.”
