We've given Silsden AFC Juniors a grant to assist with organising their annual 6-a-side tournament and fun day, while also addressing their need for essential new equipment.
The club, which is based next to our new Weavers View development, approached us to secure funding for new kit, aiming to boost their ongoing promotion and investment in their team. Additionally, the funds will contribute to the development of a dedicated area for the club’s under 6 players, offering an ideal entry for budding new players.
Julie Lintern, Community Independence Officer at Yorkshire Housing, played a crucial role in assisting the club in securing the funding, and said:
“We were delighted to be able support Silsden AFC Juniors through our community grant scheme. This investment aligns with our commitment to empowering local initiatives that foster engagement and provide valuable opportunities for people to thrive.
“They also put some of the money towards buying new equipment for their recent tournament and fun day, which took place in June, and saw a huge turnout of 140 participating teams! We’re so glad to have been able to play a small part in bringing the town together.”
John Lohan, Chairman of AFC Silsden added:
“The grant from Yorkshire Housing has helped us to buy much-needed equipment to allow us to continue welcoming new people to the club and investing in our town’s young people.
“Being located alongside Yorkshire Housing’s Weavers View development is also a bonus, as we anticipate new families will take an interest in joining us. Please spread the word!”
We remain committed to supporting local initiatives that foster community engagement, and the grant awarded to Silsden AFC Junior, amplifies this commitment. We want to invest in local communities so people can thrive, develop essential skills, and build long lasting connections!
