We're now able to provide an update about the fire at our colleague hub in Leeds.
Sadly, in the early hours of Thursday 21 September, a fire broke out at our colleague hub in Leeds. Thankfully no one was in the building at the time and there were no injuries.
Over the past few days we’ve been assisting West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service with their investigation into the cause of the fire. Their report has now concluded that the likely cause of the fire was a faulty portable power bank. The power bank met all health and safety standards and was used and stored correctly.
Fortunately, due to the sound structure of the building the fire was contained to the Yorkshire Housing floor only, however the fire damage inside is significant and it’ll take some time before we’ll be able to use the space again.
Importantly services to customers are unaffected and, although the news comes as a big shock to our colleagues, our systems are still up and running and there’s been no loss of data. Our colleagues are well equipped to work remotely and business carries on as normal.
