Yorkshire Housing Apprentices win top awards

Aaron Clegg and Danielle Aylward scooped three prizes between them at the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards held in Wakefield on Wednesday 24 May.

The awards hosted by National World events, celebrate and recognise the work of individuals and organisations in West Yorkshire.

This year, 42 people and businesses were nominated across 11 categories, ranging from Mentor of the Year to Large Business Employer of the Year.

Aaron Clegg, Assistant Property Surveyor at Yorkshire Housing, was crowned Higher Apprentice of the Year and said he couldn’t be prouder:

“Winning this award is really the icing on the cake. 5 long years at college, finished off with two outstanding awards, not only for me, but for Yorkshire Housing too!”

He was also highly commended in the Construction Apprentice of the Year category. 

Danielle Aylward won the award for Advanced Apprentice of the Year and has been with Yorkshire Housing since April 2022. Danielle works as a Learning and Organisation Development Coordinator Apprentice and explains what this achievement means to her:

"Winning this award has been a highlight of my first year at Yorkshire Housing!

"I've had so many exciting opportunities to learn develop my skills and I’m looking forward to making the most of further opportunities in the future."

 Kiran Olak runs the Apprenticeship Programme at Yorkshire Housing and said:

“We’re so proud of Danielle and Aaron for their achievements – they’re really well deserved.

“They’ve both excelled on their apprenticeship journeys and these awards are a testament to their hard work and accomplishments!”

Yorkshire Housing launched our apprenticeship programme in 2007 and since then more than 150 apprentices have taken part.
