There never seems to be enough hours in the day, so we've pulled together some quick and easy things you can do in your home to help keep it ship-shape.
Got 10 minutes? Perfect!
Here's some quick things you can do to keep your home healthy this winter.
Extractor fans should always be running at a low speed. To check yours is working, hold a piece of tissue over the fan while it's running.
If the tissue holds its place, the fan is working and will be taking moisture out of the air. If the tissue folds then you'll need to book in a repair for a fan service or replacement.
You can do that on our report a repair page, or on the customer portal.
Go on, press the button. You know you want to. All you need to do is press it until the alarm sounds. If nothing happens it means you'll need to replace the batteries. Some smoke alarms start beeping when they need more batteries, so keep an ear out for that in the future.
Not all windows have a trickle vent so it's worth checking to see which ones do. Leave all trickle vents open except in rooms where an extractor fan is fitted and running - this is normally in your bathroom and kitchen.
No, we're not talking about rearranging your whole room. But furniture that's pushed up against external walls stops air movement which can lead to damp and mould forming. If you have furniture backed up against a wall, pull it away slightly so air can circulate.
Take two minutes to spray your window and door hinges with a bit of WD-40 to help protect the metal and keep everything working as it should be.
